been brought against the Master of the Collier, and at a subsequent interview Commander Rodgers on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the United States Asiatic Fleet requested the assistance of this Government in getting the case dismissed.
3. I referred the matter to the Law Officers of the Crown, who advised that the case was one which should properly be dealt with through diplomatic channels, and I accordingly directed the Attorney General to move the Court to dismiss the action.
4. I have now to request that Your Lordship will be good enough to move the Foreign Office to bring the matter to the notice of the Ambassador of the United States of America with a view to enquiry being made regarding the responsibility for the collision, and the amount of compensation, if any, payable to the plaintiff O Yung.
